Anna Leigh Ashford

Annaleigh Amanda Ashford is an American actress, dancer and singer. One of her first Broadway performances included Wicked Legally Blonde Hair. In the musical, Hair. Tony Award was given to Ashford for her role as Essie Carmichael from You Can't Take It With You. Annaleigh is a Tony Award winning actress and director, has spent the majority of her career working with prominent directors and actors on screen and in television. Ashford is next seen opposite Kumail Nannjiani in Robert Siegel's Hulu Limited Series Welcome to Chippendales premiering November 22. Ashford is currently working in Searchlight Pictures' horror thriller Dust opposite Sarah Paulson, Ebon Moss Bachrach and Ebon Mosch-Bachrach. The film is part of a Hulu Original and will be streaming on Disney DTC. Ashford, who will appear as Josh Groban on Broadway's Lunt-Fontanne Theatre in the March 2023 revival of Stephensondheim's Sweeney Todd. Thomas Kail as director and Jeffrey Seller as producer will form the team of creators for the show. Ashford was Paula Jones, the main role in Ryan Murphy's latest FX show American Crime Story Impeachment. It is based upon the crisis which swept Paula Jones Monica Lewinsky Linda Tripp and other principal characters into the first ever impeachment trial in the United States in more than 100 years. Ashford was a part of two seasons in the CBS hit comedy B Positive. The show was created by Marco Pennette and Chuck Lorre the show also starred famous actor Linda Lavin Hector Elizondo and Ben Vereen.No no stranger to Broadway Ashford won the Tony Drama Desk and Outer Critics Circle Awards for her portrayal of Essie as Essie in You Can't Take It with You. Also, she has performed on Broadway on Sunday in the Park With George Wicked, Legally Blonde and the first character of Lauren in Kinky Boots for which she received a nomination for an Tony Award. Ashford is an Denver origins native, and now splits his time between Los Angeles.
